My Experience with
Renaza Glow Series Clay Mint Mask
Bentonite clay skyrocketed to popularity a few years ago when beauty gurus and celebrities began to tout its effectiveness for its deep pore cleansing and refining properties as well as its ability to draw toxins out of the skin.
I was admittedly swept up by the hype as well and tried a good number of bentonite clay masks (and other clay masks too, because I love trying all things skincare) but many of them just left my skin feeling dry and uncomfortably tight.
When I came across Renaza’s Glow Series Clay Mint mask in our product lineup, I was intrigued. Many clay masks are kept in jars due to the density of the product but this came in a pump version (already a massive thumbs up in my book!).
I prefer skincare products to come in tube or pump form as it is more hygienic. Imagine dipping into the jar repeatedly with your fingers– even if you washed your hands before dipping in, there will still be some bacteria left over that will just sit in the product after repeated uses.
In addition, having the product in a tube or pump will minimise contact with the air and prevent the more reactive ingredients and nutrients from degrading when exposed to light or air (prime example: products with Vitamin C).
I tried a small swatch test on the back of my hand and found the texture to be very smooth and creamy, and applied beautifully with a flat brush with no tugging or dragging on skin. The mask gradually dries up and you can wash it off with lukewarm water or hold a wet flannel to your face to soften the mask first before washing it off.
So what makes this mask so amazing?
This mask is not your usual clay mask. Bentonite volcanic clay is the main ingredient here, but the mask also contains other plant extracts, and soothing nutrients to make it suitable for all skin types (even sensitive skin!!) The formulation is so gentle, I felt no burning or uncomfortably taut sensation even after leaving it on for 20mins.
Besides pore tightening and cleansing, this mask also acts as a mild exfoliant. The extracts gently exfoliate and renew skin to reveal a baby-soft texture underneath all the dead skin and is perfect for those with acne–prone or dull skin. I can attest to how soft and radiant my skin looked after this mask!
This is one product I will definitely be incorporating into my regular skincare routine. While I do not have much acne, my skin can get dull or lackluster sometimes and I think this is a nice addition to my regular exfoliating cleanser.
For users with severe acne, this mask can be used daily after your normal cleansing. For other skin types, it is recommended to use no more than two times a week. You can also use this as a spot treatment or as part of your multi-masking routine to properly address certain trouble areas on your face.
The Clay Mint Mask retails for $48 at Renaza outlets. Inquire at your regular branch to purchase!
