The skincare ABCs. Except it’s our 12th birthday, so we’re making this the R-E-N-A-Z-A of skincare! 😉

R – Repair

Our skin is in a constant cycle of repair, as it faces damaging elements such as sun exposure, pollution, poor diet, dehydration, and bacteria. All of these factors can lead to the breakdown of skin cells and the weakening of the ‘epidermis’, which is the outer protective layer of our skin, making our skin even more vulnerable to these threats.

TRY:  PDRN Skin Renewal Therapy! PDRN is a powerful and natural skin-healing ingredient, harvested from salmon’s DNA, which is tremendously effective in healing wounds, promoting cellular growth and regeneration, and preventing inflammation.

E – Exfoliate

Out with the old and in with the new! Exfoliation is an important step that should be incorporated into your weekly beauty regimen. The process helps to remove dead surface skin cells and stimulate cell renewal, improving skin texture and tone. Most of us should make sure to exfoliate at least twice a week, however, if you happen to have sensitive skin once a week may be sufficient. (Make sure to find out whether your skin is sensitive or just sensitised!)

TRY:  Our newly launched Cryo Facial series! This series uses a sonic cleansing exfoliator technology to exfoliate dead skin cells and unclog pores, along with a unique combination of cool and soothing blue LED light to improve your skin’s clarity. Each Cryo facial is also personalised with a specific facemask to cater to your skin’s needs.

N – Non-Comedogenic

Non-comedogenic is a term referring to products that tend not to clog pores or cause comedones – also known as blackheads or whiteheads. Try to ensure that the beauty products used on your skin do not contain comedogenic ingredients such as benzaldehyde, lauric acid, ethyhexyl palmitate, and acetylated lanolin. At Renaza, we make sure to ensure that all of our skin products do not contain any comedogenic ingredients!

A – Antioxidants

Antioxidants are vitamins, minerals and enzymes that nourish our skin and help to prevent and repair damage to our skin tissue. The easiest way to get your daily dose of antioxidants is from what you eat daily. Swap out your coffee for green tea, which is well known to be high in antioxidants. Vitamins A, C, E, Polyphenolic antioxidants (resveratrol/flavonoids) and Carotenoids (lycopene, carotenes, lutein) are antioxidants that can be easily found in many foods and drinks such as berries, spinach, sweet potato, broccoli, eggs, milk, dark chocolates, and red wine.

Z – ZZZZZ… Sleep!

There is a reason for the term “beauty sleep”! Sleep allows our skin to repair itself in various ways, such as:

1)    Skin produces collagen at night, which results in plumper skin that is less prone to wrinkles. Getting less than 5 hours of sleep can actually result in twice as many fine lines as opposed to 7 hours of sleep.

2)    Blood flow to the skin is boosted while we sleep, which helps to give us that healthy glow when we wake. Sleep deprivation can thus decrease this effect, causing our skin to look dull. The increased blood flow while we sleep also helps our skin benefit even more from the repairing ingredients in our beauty products.

The amount we sleep directly affects how our skin looks and experts say that 7-9 hours is ideal for proper skin recuperation – so get those ZZZs in!

A – Aqua

Aqua (or water) is not just one of the lifelines of our universe, it is also what makes up more than half of our body mass. Water removes toxins and waste from our bodies and is required by our cells to process nutrients. Skin, just like any of our other organs, is made up of cells requiring water to function properly. Drinking enough water ensures optimum skin moisture, increases skin elasticity, helps deliver essential nutrients to our skin cells, and combats skin disorders like psoriasis and eczema.

On top of drinking enough water, the right skincare can help your skin stay moisturised.

TRY:  Our all-time favourite, the Vita Aqua Glow Facial! Using pure Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid (LMWHA), which has the ability to penetrate much deeper into every later on the skin, this facial provides intense hydration to improve skin elasticity and radiance.
