After all, it’s never too late to work towards healthier, happier skin! Here are some beauty resolutions that are totally achievable and don’t require immense time, money, or effort on your part. Because we know firsthand those get forgotten immediately 😏

Drinking more water is not just good for your health to keep your body functions in tip-top shape, but also ensures your complexion stays clear and radiant.

Many people suffer from dehydrated skin, and simply layering on hydrating mists and moisturiser isn’t enough if your water intake isn’t adequate. Try setting a reminder on your phone to remind yourself to drink water throughout the day!

We have gotten used to skincare routines being a strictly morning/ night affair. Sometimes, looking after your skin requires a bit more work!

If you stay in an air-conditioned room most days at work or at home, your skin will become dehydrated and dry quicker. Put a hydrating mist or a moisturiser on your work desk, and moisturise throughout the day to keep your skin feeling fresh, plump, and healthy.

As a fellow beauty junkie, we know the temptation of purchasing and trying out multiple products all too well.

Establishing a fixed skincare routine with products that work for your skin will be healthier for your complexion in the long run, instead of alternating (and possibly missing out a few crucial steps) with the various products you have recently purchased.

We know the health benefits of getting proper sleep– better concentration, better health, and better skin. By getting proper quality sleep, our body has more time to heal- and that includes our skin cells too!

Studies have shown cell turnover rates improve when we get 8 hours of sleep, which means a softer and more youthful complexion.

Remember to remove your makeup before bedtime though, or you’ll let all that beauty sleep go to waste!

Be patient when you’re trying out new skincare. Any long-term results in skin health will take at least a full skin cycle to surface, so don’t cut something out just because you don’t get results the day after. Some products may cause a ‘purging‘ effect, which is not a breakout but rather your skin detoxing and prepping your skin for newer, healthier skin cells!

Organise your vanity and throw out all the products you’ve been keeping for years, or products that don’t work for your skin but you’ve been keeping around ‘just because’!

While it may hurt your heart to throw out something you’ve purchased for a bomb or a product you really love the look of; if you don’t use it OR it’s past its use-by date you should discard it for the sake of your skin!

Keeping only the products you use within reach will also keep your routine simpler and fuss free.

This goes without saying, yet sunscreen remains the most skipped step in our skincare routines. Damage from UV rays is one of the main causes of skin ageing, so it makes sense to make it an essential step in your skincare routine.

After all, prevention is better than cure (and way less costly!). To keep your youthful visage, apply sunscreen of at least SPF 50 and reapply after a few hours if you are out in the sun for the whole day.

And yes, even if you stay indoors, you will still experience UV damage from ambient light and fluorescent lights! So make sure you get into the habit of applying sunscreen 😎

Instead of spending a fortune on expensive skincare products, make changes in your diet instead. If you snack regularly/ have irregular meals or eat unhealthy foods, your complexion suffers.

Eating more fruits and vegetables and having a balanced diet will ensure your skin gets a full range of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals needed for a glowing complexion. Taking more superfoods may allow you reap these skin benefits quicker as well!

It is generally recommended to go for a facial every 4-6 weeks.

Facial treatments do a lot of heavy lifting to ease and amplify the benefits of your regular skincare routine. While we may exfoliate regularly in our skincare routine, our regular at-home beauty tools may not be as effective as a professional facial.

A facial ensures your skin is not clogged up with impurities and the regeneration rate of skin cells is not hampered by environmental or lifestyle factors. They have numerous other benefits as well depending on the products and machines used in the session!

Of course, if you are acne-prone or have troubled skin, you may need to schedule one more frequently (weekly or every fortnight), and reduce the frequency as your skin improves. Specific anti-ageing treatments may require you to visit your beautician more regularly as well.
